Wendy’s announces ‘sleek’ new standard design for restaurants | FOX 4 Kansas City WDAF-TV

(platform) – The new location of a fast food giant will look a little different next fall. Wendy’s announced this week “sleek and modern” design standards for future locations, according to a press release.

This “Global Next Gen” restaurant, as Wendy’s calls it, will use “modern technology” to help increase digital ordering, the company said. The planned improvements will also allow delivery drivers to pick up mobile orders at a delivery-specific walk-up window, separate from the regular drive-thru.

Inside, the restaurant will feature a dedicated space for mobile customers to pick up orders. The galley-style kitchen will also extend from the front to the back of the restaurant, to increase “efficiency and oversight for the crew,” Wendy said.

In total, Wendy’s announced five major updates, as well as improvements that each aims to achieve:

  • Delivery window: Instead of a delivery-service driver needing to enter the restaurant, they can choose to visit the dedicated delivery pick-up delivery window. There is also a dedicated delivery parking lot.
  • Pick Up Special Mobile Orders: The new restaurant will have dedicated parking for mobile ordering and a pick-up section inside.
  • Kitchen Reimagined: The company says the new galley-style kitchen will support faster order fulfillment.
  • Next Generation Technology: Wendy’s said the new technology could help the crew make the digital business “bigger” than before.
  • Optimized infrastructure: The new location will look to use more efficient building elements that look to reduce energy use and costs.

Wendy’s will open its new restaurant in New Albany, Ohio, in the spring of 2023.
