Overland Park mulls upgrades at Deanna Rose Children’s Farmstead

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The horse stable at Deanna Rose Children’s Farmstead in Overland Park may soon get an upgrade.

On Monday, the Overland Park Planning Commission voted 8-0 to approve the final development plan to expand the farmstead’s draft horse depot.

The city plans to demolish the draft horse depot located near the center of the farm and build a new building in its place.

The proposed building will include a covered barn area with an attached roof extending to the east of the barn. The new layout will allow for ticket booths for carriage rides to be located under the roof area outside the barn.

According to the city’s Capital Improvement Program (CIP) 2022-2026, the draft horse depot project will be fully funded by private donations from Friends from Farmstead.

Overland Park City Council is scheduled to review the final development plan for the horse depot on Monday, December 5.
