Krispy Kreme matches donut prices with US gas prices

SPARTANBURG, SC (WSPA) – Krispy Kreme is deflating the price of a dozen Original Glazed donuts to match the average US gas price.

“We know everyone could use a little donut deflation to ease the latest pain at the pump,” the company said in a statement.

Every Wednesday through August 31, Krispy Kreme prices its Beat the Pump Original Glazed Dozen based on the national average price of a gallon of regular gasoline.

The price for August 3 was $4.21, with prices changing week to week.

Krispy Kreme will announce a new price for a dozen every Tuesday Website. The new price will also be posted in the company Facebook and Twitter glass

The company said customers can purchase Original Glazed twenties at participating stores through the store, drive-thru or online.

Although a gallon of regular gasoline sold for $4.21 on average Wednesday, that was lower than in June, when the national average exceeded $5 a gallon. However, it is still very painful for many workers and families up front, and is about 32% higher than what drivers were paid a year ago.
