KCI Airport is permanently closing economy parking this week

Kansas City, Mo. – Travelers beware, changes are coming to Kansas City International Airport this week. This is another sign that a new terminal is about to open.

Starting Wednesday, September 14, people driving themselves to the airport will notice a change. That’s when Economy B Parking will be closed permanently.

Customers flying Allegiant, Delta, or Southwest Airlines should park in the Economy C lot until the new terminal opens next year.

An airport spokesperson said Blue Bus will continue to serve the two lots until B Lot is empty, but starting Wednesday, new travelers will not be allowed to park there.

Last month the Build KCI team completed its first gate fit check at the new terminal. The tests ensure that the design and layout meet the requirements of airline and government regulations.

The city’s aviation department reported that the terminal is on budget and will be ready to open in early 2023, just weeks before Kansas City hosts the NFL Draft.
