Kansas City ranks among the most expensive US cities for hotel accommodations, according to a new survey.
With an average rate of $208 per night for the cheapest available double room, it is Shower City Rank No. 8 in Cheaphotels.org’s report on the most expensive city destinations in 2022.
The site’s research compared hotel prices in 36 U.S. destinations with populations over 500,000 as well as 14 other destinations with populations over 250,000.
Only centrally located hotels with a three-star rating or higher are considered. The survey collected average prices for the cheapest double rooms during October 2022 – the month when affiliate Booking.com said hotel prices in most American cities typically peak.
Compared to 2021 – when rates are still affected by the pandemic – hotel prices in Kansas City have risen 43%. City ranked No. 12 on Cheaphotels.org survey last year with an average rate of $145.
