Independence and Hy-Vee provide free grocery delivery

Independence, Mo. – The city hopes the new program will help people get better access to healthy food and other food items.

The Independence Health Department is partnering with Hy-Vee to offer free grocery delivery to some households in the community.

The benefits are free with a Hy-Vee+ subscription, which costs $12.95 a month, or $99 a year.

The new program is made possible by a grant from the state of Missouri and works to give equal access to people and families who might not otherwise be able to afford grocery deliveries.

Anyone interested in the freebie should apply for the program.

Applications are available at Independence City Hall, Community Service League, House of Hope, Salvation Army, Northwest Community Development Corporation, and Christ Stone Church.
