OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Fiorella’s Jack Stack is responding to criticism for renting out his event space for the coalition’s “Value It’s Both” viewing party.
On election day, August 2nd, a large group of 2nd Amendment supporters gathered at the Fiorella Event Venue in Overland Park. The restaurant said renting to the group is not an endorsement.
Ownership said that, like anyone else looking to rent space, the coalition chose to rent space.
Dear Kansas City,
Many have heard that the “Values of Both” Coalition rented space at the Fiorella Event Venue to hold an election-watching party last night. Without question, these emotions that have been spurred throughout Kansas City are seen as both real and valid by our team – and we respect the tone of opinion that has been shared in response. To those who have come – we see you, we hear you, and we are grateful for the opportunity to share this news.
In talking about last night’s event at the Fiorella Event venue, we want to be clear: The “Values of Both” Coalition chose to rent our event space in the same way that any other person or group would choose an event venue. Our decision to provide that space should not be taken as an endorsement or denunciation of any direction. We hope that all of Kansas City will continue to welcome us whenever they find themselves at Jack Stack Barbecue or at Fiorella Event Venue in the future.
